At EduMzansi, we are committed to providing high-quality, practical online education. We understand that circumstances change, and we want you to feel confident in your learning investment. This Refund Policy outlines the terms and conditions under which refunds, cancellations, and course transfers may be granted.

1. STATUTORY COOLING-OFF RIGHTS
1.1. Your Right to Cancel
In accordance with Section 44 of the Consumer Protection Act, you have the right to cancel your purchase and receive a full refund within five (5) business days of the transaction date, without providing any reason and without penalty.
This cooling-off right applies to all electronic transactions (purchases made through our website) and is an unconditional right under South African law.
1.2. Conditions for Cooling-Off Refund
To qualify for a cooling-off refund:
- Your refund request must be received within five (5) business days from the date of purchase (not the date of course commencement).
- You must not have accessed, viewed, streamed, or downloaded any Course content, including preview materials that become available only after payment.
- You must not have attended any live class sessions associated with the Course.
- Business days exclude Saturdays, Sundays, and South African public holidays.
1.3. How to Exercise Your Cooling-Off Right
We will acknowledge your request within two (2) business days and process your full refund within ten (10) business days of acknowledgement.
2. REFUND ELIGIBILITY AFTER THE COOLING-OFF PERIOD
2.1. Full Refund
After the five-day cooling-off period, a full refund may still be granted in the following circumstances:
- Technical Failure: A verified technical issue on EduMzansi’s end that prevents you from accessing the Course content for an extended period (more than 48 consecutive hours) and that we are unable to resolve within a reasonable time.
- Course Cancellation: EduMzansi cancels the Course before it starts or discontinues it mid-way through for any reason (see Section 5).
- Significant Misrepresentation: The Course content materially differs from what was described on the Course page at the time of purchase, such as a fundamentally different curriculum, missing major modules, or a different instructor than advertised without prior notice.
- Double Payment: You were charged twice for the same Course due to a payment processing error.
2.2. Partial Refund
A partial refund may be granted in the following circumstances:
- You request a refund within fourteen (14) calendar days of the Course start date AND you have accessed less than twenty percent (20%) of the total Course content.
- The partial refund amount will be calculated as follows: Refund Amount = Amount Paid – (Total Course Price × Percentage of Content Accessed).
- For live cohort Courses, “Course content accessed” may include attending live classes, opening protected Course materials, viewing lessons, accessing assignments, submitting assignments, attempting quizzes, downloading resources, or otherwise using enrolled student-only Course content.
- For practical purposes, attending one or more live class sessions may be treated as Course access and may affect refund eligibility.
2.3. No Refund
- More than fourteen (14) calendar days have passed since the Course start date.
- You have accessed, viewed, attended, submitted, downloaded, or completed more than twenty percent (20%) of the Course content or live sessions.
- You have received a Certificate of Completion for the Course.
- You have already received a refund or Course transfer for the same purchase.
- Your Account was suspended or terminated due to a violation of our Terms of Service, including academic dishonesty, sharing Course content, abusive behaviour, or any other prohibited conduct.
- You simply changed your mind, lost interest, or found the Course too difficult, too easy, or not what you expected, after having accessed more than 20% of the content.
- External circumstances unrelated to EduMzansi prevent you from completing the Course, such as personal schedule changes, internet connectivity issues on your end, device failures, or personal emergencies (though we may offer a Course transfer in such cases – see Section 6).
- You purchased the Course during a promotional period or with a discount code and the promotion clearly stated “non-refundable” or “final sale.”
3. REFUND REQUEST PROCESS
3.1. How to Request a Refund
All refund requests must be submitted in writing via email to info@edumzansi.org phone calls or social media messages will not be accepted as formal refund requests.
Your email must include all of the following information:
- Subject line: “Refund Request – [Your Order Number]
- Your full legal name as registered on your Account
- The email address associated with your Account
- Your order number or transaction reference number
- The name of the Course for which you are requesting a refund
- The date of purchase
- A clear and detailed explanation of the reason for your refund request
- Any supporting evidence (screenshots, error messages, etc.) if applicable
3.2. Review Process
Upon receiving your refund request, our process is as follows:
- Step 1: Acknowledgement – We will acknowledge receipt of your request within two (2) business days via email.
- Step 2: Review – A member of our support team will review your request, including verifying your purchase details, checking your Course access logs, and assessing eligibility against this Policy. This review typically takes three to five (3-5) business days.
- Step 3: Decision – We will notify you of our decision via email. If approved, the email will confirm the refund amount and estimated processing time. If denied, the email will explain the reason for denial and outline your options.
- Step 4: Processing – If approved, the refund will be processed within ten (10) business days of the approval notification.
3.3. Refund Decision
EduMzansi’s initial refund decision is made by our support team based on the criteria outlined in this Policy. All decisions are made in good faith and in accordance with applicable South African consumer protection legislation.
4. REFUND PAYMENT METHODS AND TIMELINES

- EduMzansi does not issue cash refunds under any circumstances.
- Refunds in foreign currencies will be processed at the exchange rate at the time of the refund, which may differ from the rate at the time of purchase.
- Any bank fees, currency conversion fees, or transaction fees charged by your bank or payment provider are your responsibility and will not be reimbursed by EduMzansi.
- Refund processing times are estimates and may be affected by bank processing schedules, public holidays, and third-party payment provider timelines.
5. COURSE CANCELLATIONS BY EDUMZANSI
5.1. When EduMzansi May Cancel a Course
EduMzansi reserves the right to cancel a Course or Cohort before or during its delivery for reasons including:
- Insufficient enrolments to deliver a quality learning experience (minimum cohort size not met)
- Instructor unavailability due to illness, emergency, or contract termination
- Technical issues that cannot be resolved in a timely manner
- Force majeure events (natural disasters, pandemics, civil unrest, government restrictions)
- Business restructuring or strategic decisions
5.2. Your Options If We Cancel
If EduMzansi cancels a Course, you will be offered one of the following options at your choice:
- Full refund – processed within ten (10) business days after confirmation of cancellation, subject to payment provider processing times
- Transfer to a future Cohort – enrol in the next available Cohort of the same Course at no additional cost.
- Transfer to a different Course – apply the amount paid toward any other Course of equal or lesser value. If the new Course costs less, the difference will be refunded.
- Account credit – receive a credit on your Account equal to the amount paid, usable toward any future Course purchase within twelve (12) months.
5.3. Notification
We will notify you of a Course cancellation at least forty-eight (48) hours before the scheduled start date, or as soon as reasonably practicable if the cancellation is due to unforeseen circumstances.
6. COURSE TRANSFERS
6.1. Cohort Transfer
If you are unable to complete a Course with your current Cohort due to personal circumstances, you may request a one-time transfer to a future Cohort of the same Course, subject to the following conditions:
- Your transfer request must be submitted before you have completed more than twenty percent (20%) of the
Course content. - A future Cohort must be scheduled and have available spaces.
- Only one Cohort transfer is permitted per Course purchase.

6.2. Course Swap
You may request to swap your enrolment from one Course to a different Course of equal or lesser value, subject to the following:

- Your swap request must be submitted before you have accessed more than ten percent (10%) of the original Course content.
- If the new Course is of lesser value, EduMzansi may, at its discretion, issue the difference as account credit rather than a cash refund, unless a refund is required by law.
- If the new Course is of greater value, you must pay the difference before the transfer is completed.
- Only one Course swap is permitted per purchase.
6.3. Person Transfer
- The transfer must be requested before you have accessed any Course content.
- The receiving person must create their own EduMzansi Account and meet all eligibility requirements.
- Only one Person Transfer is permitted per Course purchase.
- Person Transfers are final – once completed, you relinquish all access to the Course.
7. PROMOTIONAL, DISCOUNTED, AND FREE COURSES
7.1. Discounted Courses
Courses purchased at a discounted price (using coupon codes, promotional offers, early bird pricing, or any other discount) are subject to the same refund terms as full-price purchases. The refund amount will be the actual amount paid (the discounted price), not the original listed price.
7.2. Free Courses
Courses that were provided free of charge, including complimentary courses, trial courses, scholarship courses, or courses received as gifts, are not eligible for monetary refunds as no payment was made.
7.3. Bundle Purchases
If you purchased a Course bundle (multiple Courses in a single transaction):
- If you request a refund before accessing any Course in the bundle, you are eligible for a full refund of the bundle price.
- If you have accessed one or more Courses in the bundle, the bundle is considered partially used. Any refund will be calculated by deducting the individual retail price of each Course accessed from the bundle price paid.
- If the total retail value of Courses accessed exceeds the bundle price paid, no refund will be issued.
8. CHARGEBACKS AND PAYMENT DISPUTES
8.1. If you believe a charge is unauthorised or incorrect, we strongly encourage you to contact us first at info@edumzansi.org before initiating a chargeback or dispute with your bank or payment provider.
8.2. If a chargeback or payment dispute is initiated, EduMzansi may temporarily suspend access to the relevant Course or Account while the dispute is investigated, particularly where the disputed payment relates to active Course access.
This does not limit any consumer rights you may have under applicable law.
8.3. Fraudulent chargebacks (chargebacks initiated after legitimately accessing Course content) may result in permanent Account termination, collection action for the disputed amount, and reporting to relevant fraud prevention databases.
9. DISPUTE RESOLUTION AND ESCALATION
9.1. Internal Escalation
If you are not satisfied with the outcome of your refund request, you may escalate the matter by sending an email to info@edumzansi.org with the subject line “Refund Dispute – [Your Order Number].” A senior team member who was not involved in the initial decision will review your case within five (5) business days and provide a final response.

If the matter remains unresolved after internal escalation, you have the right to approach the following external bodies:

You also have the right to seek resolution through the South African courts, specifically the Gauteng Division of the High Court, Johannesburg, or the applicable Small Claims Court for claims within its monetary jurisdiction.
10. SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES

In the event of a close family member’s death, EduMzansi may offer a Cohort transfer or extended access upon receipt of a death certificate or equivalent documentation. This is handled on a case-by-case basis with compassion and sensitivity.
10.3. Load-Shedding and Infrastructure Issues
However, these issues are generally outside EduMzansi’s direct control and do not automatically qualify a Student for a refund.
Where appropriate, EduMzansi may offer reasonable support such as flexible assignment deadlines, extended access to available Course materials, or transfer to a future Cohort, subject to availability and Course requirements.
Unless expressly stated otherwise on the relevant Course page, live classes are not recorded and recordings are not provided.
11. Students Under 18
If a Student is under the age of 18, the parent or legal guardian who authorises the purchase or Course enrolment is responsible for ensuring that the Student can attend the scheduled live classes and comply with this Refund Policy.
Refund requests for minors should be submitted by the parent or legal guardian where appropriate.
