About Course

This is a live online cohort course. You will attend scheduled live classes with an instructor, complete a final project, and receive a certificate of completion after meeting the course requirements.

Classes are live and are not recorded unless expressly stated otherwise. Please make sure you can attend the scheduled sessions before enrolling.

SQL is the universal language of data. Every database-driven business system – from banking and retail to healthcare and logistics – stores its data in a relational database that you query with SQL. This 2-week live cohort teaches you how to write SQL queries to extract, filter, aggregate, join and analyse data for real business reporting purposes.

You will work with a real business database across all six live classes, progressing from your first SELECT statement through to writing complex multi-table queries, window functions and building a complete business report from a database.

This course provides education and practical frameworks. It does not guarantee employment, promotion or business results. Results depend on your practice, application and individual circumstances.

  • Live Classes: 6 (3 per week – Mon, Wed, Fri)
  • Sessions: Early Morning 07:00–09:00 or Late Evening 20:30–22:30 SAST

What Will You Learn?

  • Understand how relational databases store and organise data using tables, rows, columns, primary keys and foreign keys
  • Write SELECT queries to retrieve specific data from a database
  • Filter, sort and manipulate data using WHERE, ORDER BY, CASE WHEN, LIKE, IN, BETWEEN and NULL handling
  • Use aggregate functions including COUNT, SUM, AVG, MIN and MAX for business summaries
  • Group and summarise data using GROUP BY and filter grouped results using HAVING
  • Combine data from multiple tables using INNER, LEFT, RIGHT and FULL OUTER joins
  • Write subqueries and Common Table Expressions for complex multi-step analysis
  • Use window functions including ROW_NUMBER, RANK, LAG, LEAD and running totals for advanced reporting
  • Create reusable database views for frequently used reporting queries
  • Export SQL query results to Excel, Google Sheets and Power BI
  • Build a complete SQL-powered business report with executive metrics, trend analysis and product performance
  • Organise and document a SQL query file professionally

Week 1: SQL Fundamentals, Filtering, Aggregation & Grouping
Write your first SQL queries, understand relational databases, filter and sort data, and use aggregation and grouping to summarise business data.

Week 2: Joins, Subqueries, Window Functions & Business Reporting
Combine data from multiple tables using joins, write subqueries for complex analysis, use window functions for advanced calculations and build a complete SQL business report.

Final Project & Certificate
Submit your complete SQL Business Report and qualify for your certificate.
